THE PARABLES, Understanding What Jesus Meant, by Gary Inrig---Good stories leave you
saying, “Hey!  That’s me!”  The stories Jesus told have that same effect.  To read them properly is
to see yourself in a new way.  But the parables are more than mirrors.  They are windows into the
heart and mind of God himself.  Beyond revealing what you are, they help you know who God is.

Because these stories are so familiar, we often do not really hear what Jesus is saying.  Gary Inrig
challenges you to sit at the feet of your Lord, to smell the aroma of Jewish villages, to feel the dust
of Galilean roads, and to listen to these wonderful stories as through you were hearing them for
the first time.  Writing with freshness and vitality, the author opens the parables to reveal spiritual
truth that will touch your life in practical and compelling ways.

CORDELIA HARVEY, Civil War Angel, by Bob Kann---How would you serve your country if you
could not fight on a battlefield?

Like many women in the Civil War, Cordelia Harvey cared deeply about the men and boys fighting
far from Wisconsin. As a woman she could not fight, and she was far from where battles were
being fought.  After her husband, Louis, drowned, the governor offered her a job that would let her
help Wisconsin soldiers.   Cordelia jumped at the chance.

Travel with Cordelia as she goes up and down the Mississippi to visit Wisconsin soldiers in military
hospitals.  Listen as she writes to the governor about the need for good food, clean supplies, and
fresh air.  Go along as she journeys to Washington, D.C., to convince President Lincoln to build a
Soldier’s Home hospital in Wisconsin.  Follow her as she returns home to start an orphanage for
the children of fallen soldiers.

WHO MADE GOD?  And other things we wonder about, written by Larry Libby---If God made
everything, then who made God?  Why doesn’t God talk to me out loud?  What does God do all
day?

Remember when you were a child and the things you wondered about God?  Kids are no different
today.  They have questions about God that seem to have no logical explanation, but best-selling
author Larry Libby offers sensitive, biblically-based answers to difficult questions.

Filled with warm, heartwarming illustrations that create a comforting atmosphere for talking with
children about their deep questions about God, WHO MADE GOD? provides a special time of
sharing with your child.  Help your child discover answers about the One who loves us most of all---
our Heavenly Father.

THE MONEY CLASS, by Suze Orman---Is the American dream dead? I understand fully:  At this
moment in time, you are in fear of the unknown.  You don’t know exactly what to do or where to
turn because you’re not sure what works anymore.  You don’t know who or what institutions to trust.

This book is named THE MONEY CLASS because within it you can acquire knowledge---of what
actions to take, what behaviors to correct, how to fortify yourself in the face of economic
challenges, how to fashion a responsible dream and achieve it—and knowledge is the key.

THE OAK INSIDE THE ACORN, by Max Lucado---Little Acorn was afraid.  “Just be the tree God
made you to be,” said Mother Oak.

It was hard for Little Acorn to believe he would ever be a big, strong oak tree.  But as time passed
he did grow into a big oak.  Then one day he found that his strong branches were just right for a
very special purpose.

God has a special purpose for you too.  This heart-tugging tale urges you to pursue it.  God made
one version of you, so be the best you that you can be!
