Check out the Web site that most of our ideas came from, www.shawlministry.com.  Their
outreach has spread across the globe, and now the SH’Shawl Ministry has been added
to their circle.  We received a beautiful e-mail from Janet Bristow, co-founder, with
welcome blessings and prayers for our group, and best wishes as we grow.  Our church’
s link will be added to their site soon.

Please contact Rachel Sterwald,
shshawl@charter.net, 261-8147, if you are interested
in creating and donating a shawl for this ministry.

                      About SH-Shawl Ministry

This prayer ministry was begun and named in honor of our
sister, Susan Henninger ("SH") who found comfort in being
"wrapped" in prayers while burdened with illness.  It is in
memory of sharing her valiant journey via a shawl of prayer
that we continue to share our handiwork and prayer.
Shawl recipients chosen by lot
The recipients of the 17 shawls were chosen by "lot" with the shawls dedicated
during the Sunday service on July 29.

The drawing of "lots" for the next recipients will be from 7-7:30 p.m., September 6,
with the blessing during the 10:15 service on September 9.

                                  Update on our SH’Shawl Ministry

During worship on July 29th, 17 shawls were blessed and made ready for delivery.

The recipients were chosen by lot.  A list had been made of members of our
congregation that were suggested to receive a shawl.  Some have been on the prayer
list, some are at Marquardt/other nursing home, some have family in Iraq, some are
faithful caregivers, etc.  On Thursday evening, before the July 29th blessing, all of these
names were put in a basket, and we took each shawl and prayerfully drew lots so God
chose each recipient.  It was a powerful experience as each beautiful shawl became
personal for each of the recipients and it’s always amazing how perfect God's choice is
when lots are drawn!  So, before the blessing on Sunday morning, each shawl had a
name on it already.  The group has a goal of delivering shawls within 2 weeks of
blessing, and we will try to make this happen each time shawls are blessed.  Each shawl
has information, including the recipient, recorded in a book that is kept in the SH'Shawl
room (the Shepherd’s Nook-upstairs).  If anyone would like to see who these shawls are
reaching, you can find information there.

We have another group of names in our basket, and several requests for additions to
our list.  There are more shawls already completed and more coming together even as I
write this, so another blessing of a group of them should come very soon.

Special thanks go to Sue Becker, for her tireless work crocheting, teaching, recording,
packing, arranging, and an endless list of other talent and dedication she puts into this
ministry!  Thank you!  Thanks also to Norma Sterwald and Martha Nelson for donating
racks for the shawls to hang on as they await blessing and delivering!  As always, many
thanks to the congregation for making this ministry possible!  It’s an honor to serve
Christ with all of you!

"Shawls ... made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an
inclusive, unconditionally loving, God.
They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and
beautify.
Those who have received these shawls have been
uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles…”
